On October 6, 2006 more than 1,000 community leaders, legislators, and policy makers convened in Orlando for the first annual Florida Children's Summit.
It was a great success!
Thanks to all of you who journeyed to Orlando to participate in this historic event. Dignitaries who participated included Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jim Davis, Incoming Florida Senate President Ken Pruitt, Florida House Speaker Designate Marco Rubio, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell (Nashville), and other Florida Legislators.
The 2006 Florida Children's Summit was designed to create a shared vision of the State of Florida's commitment to its children and families. Convened by leaders in the Florida House and Senate, it has launched a long-term process to develop and implement strategies for moving a shared vision forward in 2007 and beyond, including specific legislative policy recommendations regarding children's issues. This historic event will continue to bring together statewide leaders, advocates and elected officials from across the state to discuss important issues facing Florida's children and families.
