George Schmalstig has been working to improve the lives of children and families for more than 24 years. Born and raised in central Ohio, he moved to Citrus County, FL in 1998, where he immediately began making an impact in the community by mentoring students and serving on numerous boards.
Prior to joining the United Way of Citrus County as CEO in May 2022, George was the Founder and CEO of Filter Family Solutions, an intensive mentoring program for at-risk students and their families. In addition to his role at Filter, he has traveled the nation as a private consultant, training criminal justice and social service professionals in cognitive-behavioral interventions and effective communication.
George holds a B.S. in Business and Professional Leadership from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL.
